About Me
- Name: Elli Fordyce
- Location: Yonkers, New York, United States
http://www.ellifordyce.hostbaby.com BIO: Born and raised in Manhattan, leaving and returning many times for varying reasons (in and out of her control), in the mean time living/gigging all over the country, Elli came back to NY – Manhattan until a recent move to Yonkers – 30 years ago. As a jazz singer, she got off to a rocky start with her multiple detours, but on January 12, 2008, her first CD, “Something Still Cool” featuring Jim Malloy, was released. Within a week, word began trickling in from DJs and jazz programmers that the CD had hit a chord and Elli was “as implied in the title, once cool, always cool, vintage cool" (Bob Gish, Jazz Improv-NY). In the two years since, plans have been made, changed and moved on in her second collaboration with Patrick LoRe (friend, producer, engineer) and resulting in “Songs Spun of Gold.” At 72, Elli has high hopes that many of her life-long wishes are about to come true. http://www.ellifordyce.com/bio.html

Well, this probably doesn't belong here, but I find that Elli Fordyce is simply far too amazing to let any space go by as a blank [imagine Times Square with 'dead air time' on the superscreen there] in the presence of greatness; no can do chahddie!
It's not easy to make me starstruck. However, this person here, this Elli Fordyce, leaves the senses no other choice. I might be a great writer, I might be a lousey writer, or, I might be a great performer, I might be a lousey performer, but I know great achievement when I sense it through either one of the five physical or that 6th sense, gitsumei no michi!
There are probably few things that I can learn from someone else; I learn a lot from My Girl Dee Dee all the time. But I believe I can learn a lot of things "musical" from Elli Fordyce. That's something to say after singing and playing, writing music, for over 58 years now. I'm not a jazz player nor enthusiast, however, the jazz performances of Elli Fordyce are beyond genre, there isn't a note she sings that doesn't entrance me. Her particular specialization in her style has captivated me. Because of that I can now say I am, indeed, a jazz enthusiast.
I only wish I could say it better: Elli, you are an absolutely amazing performer!
